What Your Child Needs for Class Safety

SAFETY IN THE GYM

We strive to teach your child gymnastics in a fun, but safe environment.

And, there are some things that you can help with, too. We'll talk to the children daily about staying safe, and we also want you to talk to them if you see things they are doing that looks unsafe. Children are the world's greatest assets. We all need to work to keep them safe.

Listed below are some particular things we want the kids to think about. Three or four times during the year we set aside a few minutes to remind them of these rules.

Proper Attire

  • All students should wear cover ups to and from class.
  • All girls must have their hair tied away from their face and preferably in two ponytails on the sides.
  • Girls should wear a body leotard, no tights, and for sanitation and safety, strongly consider gymnastics shoes too.
  • Boys should wear a T-shirt tucked into stretch shorts or pants. No zippers, belts, buckles on pants.
  • Older girls should wear sports bras under t-shirts when tumbling.

Before Coming To Class

  • Talk to your child at home about staying in line, no talking in class, and listening carefully to the teachers.
  • Arrive for class 5 to 10 minutes early (it is best to dress at home) to "calm" the anxious child and get them in the mood for learning. NOTE: For the youngest students, please carry a change of clothes for bathroom accidents.
  • Keep all brothers and sisters off the equipment and watch for other students running or "playing" on the equipment.
  • All parents are required to stay in the observation area, (unless they are called for, or enrolled in a "Mommy & Me" class. From time to time, parents will be invited into the class areas for viewing.

During The Class

  • Parents are expected to stop their siblings from horseplay, loud behavior, and disturbing other patrons in any way, while in our facility. If your children are acting up or not following these rules, please take them outside of the facility immediately, while your other children are taking their classes and other patrons can enjoy their child's class times. It is a courtesy thing.
  • Absolutely NO horseplay and running around the equipment.
  • Only during a student's "scheduled class", with the coach's supervision, are allowed on the equipment.
  • Look around before you cross in front of other groups.
  • Let the teacher know if you are feeling sick or faint.
  • Make sure you tell the teacher if you have to go to the bathroom (parents should accompany the child to the bathroom if possible). MOMS Take your child to the bathroom before class!!!
