As far as my service goes I have been in the Marine Corps since July of 2007 and my home reserve unit is out of Raleigh NC.   My job within the Marines is Supply and I worked in transportation management for my seven month tour of duty in Iraq.  I have a few ribbons and medals.

Meet Michael Matthews

I am the Founder of both “Gymnastics of Ashe, LLC” and “Kids First Inc.” ("Kids First", Inc is a 501-C-3 non-profit Intity). I was born and raised in the Boston area and served in the U.S. Air Force. While living in San Antonio, Texas for 12 years, I received training in aircraft maintenance and electronics. I also earned an "Airframe and Powerplant" license, "FCC Radio and Telephone" License with a Radar Endorsement certification. I have Associate Degrees in Aircraft Maintenance and Computer Electronics.

Moving to Greensboro, NC in 1991, I worked at the Greensboro Airport as an A&P Aircraft Mechanic and Production Coordinator. I graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with my Bachelor's Degree in Professional Aeronautics.

My gymnastics education includes: USAG Kinder Accreditation Teacher, MELPD Certified, PDP Level 1, Skill Evaluator, AACCA Cheerleading Certified, USAG Safety Certified, First Aid and CPR Certified. I have also attended Gymnastics Boot Camps with Jeff Metzger, and continue my education through USAG Congress and clinics. I have been teaching gymnastics for over 17 years here in North Carolina.

I am a full-time licensed NC Real Estate Broker here in Ashe County, and have joined my wife Sherrie (Bare) Matthews at "4 Seasons Vacation Rentals & Sales" in Jefferson, NC. I also enjoy spending time with my son, Camren, and her two daughters, Kristen & Lauren. We attend Bald Mountain Baptist Church, in West Jefferson.
